    Welcome to the GAMC Community!

This forum is a place for members of the GAMC community to learn, share ideas, ask questions, and participate in constructive conversations about issues that matter to our community. Our goal is to create an environment where people can exchange information and perspectives while treating one another with respect.

    What Are the Forums For?

The forums provide a place for community discussion and information sharing. Different topics may be created to focus conversations on specific subjects, questions, initiatives, or issues affecting the GAMC community.

    You are encouraged to:

Share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences.

Ask questions and seek information from other members.

    Offer constructive suggestions.

Respond to other members' posts in a respectful manner.

Share information that you believe may be helpful to the community.

Participate in polls and provide your perspective on questions presented to the community.

The purpose is not necessarily for everyone to agree. Healthy discussion can include different opinions and perspectives. What matters is that those differences are expressed respectfully and constructively.

    What Are the Polls For?

Polls provide another way for members to participate and express their opinions.

A poll may be used to gather general community feedback, identify areas of interest, or better understand how members feel about a particular question or topic.

Poll results should be viewed as a way to understand community perspectives—not necessarily as a formal vote, official decision, or indication that everyone in the community shares the same opinion.

    How Do I Participate?

    Participation is simple:

Read the topic and any information provided.

Add your thoughts or questions when you have something relevant to contribute.

Read what others have shared before responding.

Keep your comments focused on the topic being discussed.

Disagree with ideas when appropriate, but do so respectfully.

Participate in polls when you want to provide your perspective.

You do not have to participate in every discussion. We encourage members to contribute when they have something meaningful to add.

    What Does "Nonpartisan" Mean?

GAMC is intended to provide a nonpartisan community environment.

In practice, nonpartisan does not mean that members cannot discuss issues, policies, or subjects that may have political implications. It means that the forum is not intended to promote, endorse, or oppose a particular political party, candidate, or political organization.

Members may have—and are welcome to express—different viewpoints. However, discussions should focus on the issue or subject being discussed rather than promoting a political party or attacking people because of their political affiliation.

For example, it is appropriate to discuss:

How a proposed policy could affect the community.

Different perspectives on a community issue.

Questions about government programs, regulations, or public policy.

The potential benefits or concerns associated with a particular proposal.

The discussion becomes inconsistent with our nonpartisan approach when it turns into campaigning, partisan promotion, personal political attacks, or efforts to use the community forum primarily to advance a particular party, candidate, or political organization.

You can disagree. You can ask difficult questions. You can express your perspective. Please do so with respect and with the goal of contributing to a productive community conversation.

Let's Make This a Good Community

The quality of the GAMC Community depends on everyone who participates.

Before posting, consider whether your contribution is relevant, respectful, constructive, and helpful to the conversation. If we all approach discussions with those principles in mind, the forums can be a valuable place for members to communicate, learn from one another, and work toward a better understanding of the issues that affect our community.

Welcome to the GAMC Community—we're glad you're here!
