A PAC (the Senate Leadership Fund, aka: SLF) with the sole purpose of supporting Republican candidates, in order to maintain the Republican domination of Congress, has funded two commercials that present proven lies about violent crimes committed by convicted criminals [...]
Dustin, Political advertising from PACs on both sides can get pretty aggressive, especially as the month of October progresses!
Let's try to fact-check and get into this a little.
I'm learning about the SLF PAC and wikipedia (and the SLF website) definately outlines that goal: SLF Wikipedia Entry quote: "The Senate Leadership Fund (SLF PAC) is an American Republican-aligned super PAC that works to secure and maintain Republican control of the United States Senate."
Can you help share more information about the ads you've seen? If there are articles, fact checks, or other sources showing that statements in these ads are false or misleading, please post them here so everyone can take a look and make up their own mind.
That’s really what I’d like these discussions to be useful for... we can try to avoid just “this person is terrible” or “that person is lying,” and we'll all benefit when we can all discuss and dig into what was actually said, what the available facts show, and where people can reasonably interpret those facts differently.
What specifically did the commercials claim about violoent crime stats? Was it ads for Michael Whatley or was it related to/from Roy Cooper? We can look for and discuss sources that contradict those claims.
