    Discussing Sensitive & Controversial Issues

GAMC welcomes discussion of difficult, sensitive, and controversial subjects. Strong disagreement is okay. Members do not have to agree with one another, and respectful debate may involve strongly held and opposing viewpoints.

What matters is how those views are expressed.

    The following are not acceptable:

Threats of violence or other threats against individuals or groups.

    Targeted harassment, abuse, or intimidation.

Dehumanizing or hateful language directed at individuals or groups.

Sharing someone's private information, including doxxing or attempts to identify or expose someone without their permission.

Content that encourages or facilitates illegal activity.

Content that is intended primarily to threaten, harass, intimidate, or cause harm.

Other material that violates applicable laws or the GAMC Community Ground Rules.

You are welcome to challenge an idea, position, policy, or argument. You are not welcome to threaten, harass, or dehumanize the person expressing it.

When discussing sensitive subjects, please focus on the issue, support your perspective with reason or information when possible, and remember that there are real people on the other side of the conversation.

The goal is not to eliminate disagreement. The goal is to make room for difficult conversations while maintaining a community where people can participate safely and respectfully.
